Manchester United have confirmed that Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie will both miss this weekend's Premier League clash with Chelsea.

The two strikers remain out through injury for Sunday's trip to Stamford Bridge.

United boss David Moyes has confirmed that Rooney has returned to training after groin injury but will not be ready for this weekend while van Persie, who has missed nine games with a thigh injury, is expected to resume training next week.

Meanwhile Moyes was fined £8,000 and warned as to his future conduct after accepting a Football Association misconduct charge following comments he made about the match referee after his side's League Cup semi-final first leg defeat at Sunderland.
