Wayne Rooney sported a new form of football headgear and David Moyes eased his worries as Manchester United defeated Crystal Palace 2-0 in this afternoon’s early kick off.
Rooney, wearing protective headwear following a head injury, scored a free kick to add to Robin van Persie’s first half penalty.
Palace had been reduced to 10 men in the first half. Kagisho Dikgacoi was dismissed following a challenge on Ashley Young in the Palace box. United were awarded the penalty and Dikgacoi was sent to the line.
Van Persie converted the kick and United enver looked in any great danger of losing their lead.
New singing Marouane Fellaini made his Manchester United debut when he came on as a second half substitute.
