Conor Sammon will start his first competitive international game tomorrow night when he lines up alongside Shane Long as part of a two man attack. The only other change to the side that drew 0-0 in Sweden is the return of Glenn Whelan to the Ireland side, as he comes in to replace Paul Green. Whelan starts alongside Friday night's man of the match, James McCarthy.
Marc Wilson has been named at left back, although he is a doubt with a groin strain.
Giovanni Trapattoni told reporters at the team announcement press conference that he had considered starting Wes Hoolahan but feels the Norwich City player is more effective in the final 15-20 minutes, when the game has opened up.
