Manchester City will play host to West Ham in this afternoon's opening game in the Barclays Premier League.
With the title already out of reach until next year, City will be looking to guarantee second place and finish the season strongly after the disappointment of losing their title to Man United on Monday.
Kick-off at Eastlands is at 12.45pm.
But the focus returns to the relegation battle for the 3pm matches.
Wigan start the day in the bottom three and Roberto Martinez's side will be hoping to upset Tottenham's Champions League ambitions at the DW Stadium as well as equalling 17th placed Aston Villa's point tally with a win.
The Latics have a superior goal difference to Villa in the battle for the drop.
Stoke could also ease their relegation concerns with a win over Norwich at the Britannia to follow up a vital win over QPR last week.
In the mid-table melee, Everton host Fulham at Goodison Park and West Brom travel to Southampton. Everton are almost certainly out of the Champions League race but will hope to hold on to their Top Six place with Merseyside rivals Liverpool lurking five points behind.
The late game this evening is at St James' Park where Newcastle will play host to a Liverpool side that will be without the suspended Luis Suarez after he incurred a 10 game suspension for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic. Kick-off is at 5.30pm.
There is also a game in the Championship today which may have implications for next season's Premier League. Hull City can seal automatic promotion if they win at Barnsley this afternoon.
A victory for Steve Bruce's side would see them secure second place behind Cardiff City.
