Doncaster have given Dean Saunders permission to talk to Wolves about their managerial vacancy.
The League One side received an official approach this morning.
Wolves are looking for a new manager after sacking Stale Solbakken following their shock defeat by Luton in the FA Cup yesterday.
The West Midlands side have lost four of their last five in the Championship, leaving the club 18th - nine points off the playoffs.
However of more concern is that Wolves lie six points above the trap door to League One.
Meanwhile Saunders has guided Doncaster into an automatic promotion place in League One.
There is also plenty of Irish interest with Kevin Doyle, Stephen Ward and Stephen Hunt at the club. Doyle and Ward have been regulars but Hunt has missed the entire league season so far through injury.
