Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt has named his extended squad for the Six Nations campaign.
The coaching staff have named 44 players in total ahead of the opening game against Scotland on February 2nd.
As expected, Leinster flanker Sean O'Brien is not included as he is almost certainly going to miss the entire campaign through injury. Ulster's Stephen Ferris and Munster's Mike Sherry also miss out due to long-term injuries.
The likes of Tommy Bowe, Donncha Ryan, Simon Zebo and Craig Gilroy have also not been named as they remain with their provinces in order to gain game-time following injuries. They may return to the squad for the Six Nations matches.
Seven uncapped players have also been drafted into the squad. They are Ulster's Robbie Diack, Cardiff Blues' Robin Copeland, the Connacht pair of Rodney Ah You and Kieran Marmion and the Leinster duo of Jordi Murphy, Martin Moore.
The head coach has included four out-halves and four scrum-halves in his back-line options with Munster's Ian Keatley getting a call-up. But there is no place for Ulster scrum-half Paul Marshall, who appears to have lost out to Marmion.
