Just days after having her name change request refused Maria Sharapova has withdrawn from the US Open.

The 26 year old Russian is suffering an inflammation of her shoulder and said it needs rest.

In recent days the four-time Grand Slam winner caused a stir by attempting to have her name legally changed to Sugarpova as part of a marketing campaign for a company she has heavily invested in.
