New Zealand have won the opening game of the Rugby Championship, beating Australia by 47 to 29 in Sydney.

The holders crossed the Wallabies’ line 6 times, with Ben Smith getting a hat-trick, and Aaron Cruden, Richie McCaw and Conrad Smith also touching down.

The wallabies hit back with tries from Will Genia and James O’Connor, while the boot of Christian Leali’ifano scored the remainder of the hosts’ points.
