Shane Lowry claimed the WGC Bridgestone Invitiational on Sunday after he displayed superb nerve and some fantastic skill to stay within contention until the final day, before surging into the lead.
Lowry went into the final day within two shots of the overnight leaders in Ohio, but by the time he teed off, that had been reduced to just one shot.
It took all the nerve in the world to recover and produce a birdie on the 18th, but you can tell simply by Shane's reaction after he sank the putt that he knew exactly what was on the line and just how much it meant to him to finally get a big win.
What a show, Shane Lowry. Congratulations to the WGC-Bridgestone winner. #QuickHits http://t.co/Qb7Z4jkiua

After faring well at the US Open, Lowry was full of confidence heading in to the Open Championship a few weeks ago, talking about having a real chance to be in the mix on the final day. Things didn't work out for him there, but it's clear from today's performance that he learned from that and managed to dig deep when it was required of him.
However, he isn't the only Lowry to have claimed a trophy in the past week, as his brother Alan could well be following in Shane's footsteps after he claimed the Mullingar Electrical Scratch Trophy by two strokes. The 22-year-old admits that he got some advice from his older brother ahead of the tournament, which helped him to focus on his swing: "We actually played on Friday and he gave me a little tip about swinging a bit slower and I came up here and I was hitting it a bit easier and obviously I won".

Back in 2008, his brother Shane won the same trophy, and today he claimed a huge win in Akron that is sure to boost him up the world rankings. Watching from their home club in Esker Hills with the rest of the Lowry family, Alan was also overjoyed at Shane's win this weekend, and pretty proud of his big brother.
@AlanLowry59 this is the proudest moment of my life! @ShaneLowryGolf you are my HERO!!!!!!

All in all, it's been a pretty great week for the Lowry brothers.
