For all that Spurs have been signing players at a head spinning rate and Arsenal have been criticised for failing to add to their squad it was Arsene Wenger’s side who came out of this north London derby with the three points and bragging rights.

Arsenal won thanks to an Olivier Giroud goal in the 23rd minute – a sublime finish from the Frenchman.

Eric Lamela made his debut for Spurs as a second half substitute but despite looking energetic and dangerous the former Roma man couldn’t engineer the equaliser.
