The starting XI for the Ireland V Greece game, tomorrow night at the Aviva stadium, has been announced. Giovanni Trapattoni has gone for a 4-4-2 formation, with Shane Long and Simon Cox starting up front.
The midfield takes on a young look, with Robbie Brady (20), James McLean (23) and James McCarthy (22) joining the more established Glenn Whelan in a midfield four.
Ciaran Clark and Seamus Coleman are selected as part of a back four and with just ten previous caps between them they represent a willingness on the part of the manager to investigate new options in his slection policy.
Wes Hoolahan, promised a minimum of 45 minutes by the manager, will not start the game.
