Daniel Sturridge has celebrated his 24th birthday by continuing his record of having scored in every Liverpool game so far this season.
Sturridge got the most minor of flicks onto a Daniel Agger header in just the third minute and sent the ball into the United net.
Since then the champions have pushed to get back into the game and David Moyes made a strong statement of attacking intent by replacing the injured Phil Jones with Antonio Valencia in the 38th minute.
