Sunderland ended a run of five games without a win as they beat 10 man Fulham 3-1 at Craven Cottage.
The teams went in goalless at half-time but for the Cottagers that came at a price.
Martin Jol"s men were reduced to 10 men on the half hour mark when Breda Hangeland was shown a straight red card for a two-footed on Lee Catermole.
Man advantage
And the Black Cats capitalised on the man advantage as Steven Fletcher gave Sunderland the lead five minutes into the second half.
But Mladen Petric equalised for Fulham just after the hour mark when he got on the end of a Damien Duff cross.
However the reprieve was short-lived as Sunderland were back in front 90 seconds later through a Carlos Cuellar header
And Stephane Sessegnon sealed the win as he lashed in a fantastic third from long-range as Sunderland counter-attacked.
