Katie Taylor has been stewing over her last fight with Delfine Persoon ahead of her rematch with the Belgian boxer this Saturday night.

The undisputed lightweight world champion's clash with Persoon is part of the final instalment of the Matchroom Fight Camp series in Essex.

Promoter Eddie Hearn revealed ahead of the highly anticipated bout that the previous fight between the pair last summer has been gnawing away at Taylor ever since.

"She's very quiet, very humble but at the same time she's got a bee in her bonnet about this particular fight," said Hearn on Sky Sports News.

"Last June one of the best fights I've ever witnessed. At Madison Square Garden, twenty-thousand people on their feet for Persoon against Taylor.

"But the question marks were should Persoon have got that victory and that's eaten her up during this period."

Taylor [15-0, 6KOs] will defend her WBA, IBF, WBO and Ring Magazine titles, as well as the WBC belt which she won off Persoon [44-2, 18KOs] in that last scrap.

The narrow victory (96-94 x2, 95-95) proved to be highly contentious and some of Persoon's comments since her defeat have really wound up the Bray woman.

"Even in the changing rooms that night when there was a little bit of uncertainty over who should have got the result," added Hearn.

"She doesn't like what Delfine Persoon has had to say and Delfine Persoon's said quite a bit and you'll see a lot of that this week. Those two, it's very icy."

Taylor was training at her regular base in Connecticut since January with a view to facing Amanda Serrano but that one fell through.

She arrived at the Fight Camp two days ago and, like all of the participants, underwent a Covid-19 test before being locked in her room until the test results are revealed.

Once the test came back negative, Taylor was admitted into the bubble which includes a small communal area, a makeshift boxing gym and the press conference area.

The final Fight Camp is pay-per-view event which starts at 7pm, Saturday, August 22, on Sky Sports Box Office.
