Katie Taylor has announced two more opponents as she continues her journey on the long road to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The Olympic gold medallist last night defeated two weight German champion Maike Klueners in front of a packed Bord Gáis Energy Theatre and today Taylor announced her next two opponents will be Yulia Tsiplakova of Ukraine and Denista Eliseeva of Bulgaria. Taylor will fight Tsiplakova at the Borda Gáis Energy Theatre on Friday, March 22nd and then, just two days later, will fight Eliseeva at the Royal Theatre in Castlebar, Mayo.
Eliseeva is the last boxer to taste victory over Taylor, as she defeated the Bray fighter in Bulgaria in 2011 with what many considered to be a controversial points decision.
Katie’s father and trainer, Pete Taylor, said of facing the Bulgarian, "Whenever people say that she is the last girl to beat Katie I always correct them and say she was the last to get a decision over her because nobody outside of the judges thought that Katie lost that fight. Katie has avenged every defeat she’s ever had and she beat Eliseeva in the European Union championships later that same year but we’re looking forward to boxing her again in Ireland."
