The 41-year-old actress and her husband Ol Parker welcomed their third child into the world on Monday. They already have daughters Ripley, 13, and nine-year-old Nico together and Thandie confirmed the news, and her son's name, on her Twitter page.

"Our baby boy is finally here! Booker Jombe Parker. Born joyously at home yesterday," she wrote."" "Blissed out with [Neal's Yard] supplies - from candles at the birth to Baby Balm for his skin - organic, gorgeous and nurturing (sic)."

Thandie opened up about the birth on the social networking site. She revealed she decided against going into the hospital when in labour.

"My 3rd home birth with brilliant independent midwife Caroline Flint - and Carole Goddard @PhoenixMidwives. Keep independent midwifery alive! (sic)," she wrote.

Thandie confirmed her pregnancy in September and a couple of months later admitted it had taken a while for the news to sink in. The star was worried about many things - not least how her pets would cope with the new arrival.

"After a speedy calculation, my resulting brain-static went something like this: ‘I’m 40! Ripley’s going to be 13 years older than her sibling? We just got a f**king cat! We’ll have to have another one so it won’t feel like an only child?? Ol is shooting in India when the baby’s due! I’ll be 41!? Nico (aged nine) still sleeps in our bed! Can I still fly to Congo on my due date? I ate mussels and drank red wine all last week! What about the f**king cat?'" Thandie laughed to British magazine Stylist.
