After next season the Premier League will drop their title sponsor, Barclays.

Barclays was the league's title sponsor for 15 years but the league are opting to drop the title, which pays £40 million a year for the privilege, in order to adopt a 'clean brand'.

The league says that the move is being made in order to help the brand more competitive internationally as it takes on America's NFL and NBA.

While £40 million a year sounds like an enormous amount of money it amounts to less that one percent of the league's enormous broadcasting deal that's worth £5.136bn.
