It seems many current Ireland players are disappointed that Giovanni Trapattoni is leaving, whereas ex-internationals and those out of favour have a different opinion of the Italian's time in charge...
Shane Long had a couple of disputes with Giovanni Trapattoni in the past but the striker was full of praise for his international manager
Legend of the the game and took Irish football to the next level, thanks for everything Mr Trapattoni.

Meanwhile, Ireland legend Paul McGrath was already looking to the potential successor before Trap's departure was confirmed. He expects one of Chris Hughton or Martin O'Neill to be appointed.
"@Diarmuid_L: @Paulmcgrath5 Hughton or Martin O'Neill are surely the front runners Paul." im just ahead of them .diaemuid :-)

Steven Reid's international career prematurely came to an end after Trap took over and he is not completely sorry to see the back of the manager.
Trappatonis gone then.. Can't argue with the job he done qualifying for the Euros and playoffs in his reign.. But..

Keith Fahey thinks Trap has been harshly treated and retweeted a message by the FAI calling Trap a "true gentleman" and "legend"
Very fickle world we live in.. One minute everyone loves ya.. The next theyre callin for your head.. #ficklepeople
