Aintree Grand National winner Tiger Roll will miss the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse for an engagement in the Bowl at Aintree next week.

The multiple Cheltenham winner had been entered in the Fairyhouse feature, but has been withdrawn from the BoyleSports sponsored race on Easter Monday at the final declaration stage.

It's a strange situation that 'Tiger Roll' will run at Aintree but not bid to equal Red Rum's record of three victories in the English Grand National.

The 11 year old was a highly impressive winner of the cross country chase at Cheltenham last month, but Eddie O'Leary, racing manager of owners Gigginstown House Stud, told the Racing Post there are no regrets as the owners believed Tiger Roll had an unfair weight in the Aintree National.

“He goes to Aintree for the Bowl. He came out of Cheltenham in great form. Red Rum won his third Grand National when he was 12, after he was dropped seven pounds, but I suppose Tiger will have to wait until he’s 17 to try and win his third by the way the English handicapper is carrying on.”

The withdrawal of Tiger Roll means the Paul Nolan trained 'Latest Exhibition' will run in the Irish Grand National.

The exciting novice will now carry top weight of 11 stone 10 pounds under jockey Bryan Cooper in the 3 miles 5 furlong contest.

Other horses with leading claims in the market include the Joseph O'Brien trained 'Sempo', 'Run Wild Fred' - who will be ridden by Gold Cup winning jockey Jack Kennedy - and the Peter Fahey trained 'The Big Dog', the mount of amateur Jamie Codd.
