Today's top '88 moment is the Netherlands' Marco Van Basten's hat-trick in its Group B match against England. 

England's Bryan Robson matched Van Basten's first goal in the 44th minute, but the team couldn't stop his second and third goals in the closing minutes of the match. While it was to be the start of an incredible touranment for Van Basten and Holland, it would be the beginning of the end for England, who finished bottom of Group B after losing all three of their games.

Newstalk and the FAI will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Euro 1988 with members of the '88 team on Thursday September 5th in The Ballsbridge Hotel, Dublin. 

The event begins at 7.30pm and tickets cost €88 or €880 for a table of 10. All proceeds will go to the John Giles Foundation, whose mission it is to facilitate positive social change by using the power of football to build community cohesion, promote health, and encourage lifelong participation and learning.
