Today's top '88 moment is Netherlands forward Marco Van Basten's volley in the semi-final against Germany.
It was 1-1, and in the 88th minute a striker for the Netherlands got a ball through from midfielder Jan Wouters, leaving Van Basten open to slide towards the ball and send it past German goalkeeper Eike Immel into the left bottom corner, giving the team a last-minute ticket to the final.

Newstalk and the FAI will celebrate the 25th anniversary of Euro 1988 with members of the '88 team on Thursday September 5th in The Ballsbridge Hotel, Dublin.
The event begins at 7.30pm and tickets cost €88 or €880 for a table of 10. All proceeds will go to the John Giles Foundation, whose mission it is to facilitate positive social change by using the power of football to build community cohesion, promote health, and encourage lifelong participation and learning.
