European football governing body UEFA has unveiled plans to overhaul the format for their new Nations League tournament.
The new competition, which is due to start in 2018, will feature promotion and relegation and will also replace most of the international friendlies that are currently on the calendar.
As a consequence of the new tournament qualifying for Euro 2020 will be held in a six-month period from March to November 2019.
The main Nations League competition will be played between September and November 2018, covering six matchdays.
UEFA's 54 members will then be divided into four divisions based on co-efficient rankings.
UEFA Nations League A and B will be made up of four groups of three teams, while UEFA Nations League C will have two groups of three teams and two groups of four teams.
UEFA Nations League D will contain four groups of four teams.
The winners of the four League A groups will then contest the playoffs.
