Van de Beek, who was signed by United from Ajax last summer for an initial fee in the region of €40m, made only four Premier League starts for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side in his first season.
Van de Beek was on the bench for the recent 2-2 friendly draw with Scotland but had not been training with the squad.
