Serie A
Normally, the "glorified SPL in the sun" that is La Liga often gets top billing on a Monday morning but Serie A was the most interesting league this weekend.
First things first, history occurred as Mario Balotelli missed the first penalty of his professional career against Napoli and it was Liverpool loanee Pepe Reina who managed to get in the way.
As usually happens when Balotelli is on the pitch, he became a magnet for headlines - both good and bad. After his missed penalty, the AC Milan striker hit the crossbar, scored a beautiful 20-yard curler and then got himself sent off after the final whistle.
Check out the uncharacteristic penalty miss and his goal in the 2 - 1 defeat.
Unfortunately Napoli's table-topping form went slightly under the radar.
But they are joined at the summit by Roma who have really started the season well under Rudi Garcia. Four wins from four and to top it off, they beat city rivals Lazio 2 - 0.
Italy left-back Federico Balzaretti opened the scoring, being reduced to tears in the process...
Fernando Llorente also got his first goal for Juventus in the 2 - 1 win over Hellas Verona, while a much-improved Inter Milan continued their fine start by thumping Sassuolo 7 - 0 away.
Fiorentina got back to winning ways with a 2 - 0 win at Atalanta.
Ligue 1
France big spenders played out an intriguing 1 - 1 draw in Paris last night.
PSG had the better of the play with Ezequiel Lavezzi particularly dangerous, but Monaco's Radamel Falcao got the crucial headed equaliser to cancel out Zlatan Ibrahimovic's well-taken opener.

Monaco stay top however, two points clear of PSG and Saint Etienne who surprisingly fell at home to Toulouse on Friday night.
Bundesliga
It is closer at the top in Germany after Borussia Dortmund slipped up at Nurnberg. Their draw means Bayern Munich have pulled level on points and goal difference at the top of the Bundesliga, following a 4 - 0 trouncing of Schalke 04.
Eredivise
The Dutch league continues to fascinate as PSV hammered title rivals Ajax 4 - 0 in Eindhoven. That puts them top of the table, with Ajax down in 11th.
But as suggested on Saturday's Euro Footy Focus, the team that was top - PEC Zwolle - were a flash in the pan. They lost 3 - 0 to Vitesse Arnhem to stretch their winless run to three games.
Turkish Super Lig
Besiktas and Galatasaray's Istanbul derby was called off after a pitch invasion by fans. Galatasaray were leading 2 - 1 when midfielder Felipe Melo was sent off in injury time, sparking the fans' violent actions.
La Liga
Barcelona and Real Madrid won their games against Rayo Vallencano and Getafe respectively. Did you expect anything else?
