Over 2,000 people attended a special gala dinner for the sports star, including Prince William, Bono and actor Michael Fassbender.
The 34-year-old was joined by his wife Amy Huberman as he was honoured for his outstanding career which saw him earn 125 caps for Ireland.
Many of his teammates paid tribute to his contribution to rugby including Jamie Heaslip, Mike Ross, golfer Shane Lowry and former England coach Sir Clive Woodward:
