On January 6th 1994, a volcano erupted in the icy world of figure skating.
Olympic medalist Nancy Kerrigan was taking part in a practice session on the eve of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Detroit when she was attacked by an assailant.
Struck on the knee with a police baton, the intention of the assault was to prevent Kerrigan from competing in the championships.
The finger of blame was pointed at her rival Tonya Harding who's ex-husband and bodyguard pleaded guilty to hiring the attacker.
