Former Ireland and Munster flanker David Wallace has said he feels Rob Penney is doing well at Munster and suggested critics would do well to give the Musnter boss some time to implement his new system. Wallace also made the point that “there’s a lot of pressure in Irish rugby” to be competing at a high level each year.
Wallace was speaking at the launch of Halo 4 and told Newstalk’s Oisin Langan about the “massive” loss of Stephen Ferris, who he feels “brings a different edge to the team” with his power and defensive qualities.
Wallace went on to say he is confident there is world class talent in the provinces, and the new generation of Irish rugby players shows the national side should have strength in depth in the future.
When asked about the call up for New Zealand born Michael Bent Wallace pointed to the Australian due of Quade Cooper and Digby Ionae as examples of New Zealand born players appearing for their rivals and went on to say “it happens in rugby.”
