In the first Ligue 1 game since the devastation caused by the terrorist attacks last week, fans united in voice to give a rousing rendition of 'La Marseillaise' in honour of those who lost their lives in the French capital.
Fans held candles in the stands and the French tri-colour illuminated the Allianz Riviera as security measures were tightened for the game between Nice and Lyon last night. This stadium will host a few of the fixtures during Euro 2016 next year.
In addition to the solidarity being shared among fans, the players observed a minute of silence on the pitch ahead of kick-off in memory of the 129 people who were fatally injured in Paris.
The Nice 'ultras' also sent a message with their chant of "Daech, on t'encule", which roughly translates as "Daech, go f*** yourself".
Sniffer dogs are expected to be used ahead of today's El Clasico at the Bernabeu and 'La Marseillaise' will be sung ahead of every Premier League game.
