Robbie Keane loves playing for Ireland and has always given everything for his country so I would not try to rush him into retirement following last night's defeat to Austria in Vienna.

The 33-year-old says he has not thought about his future and whether or not the next two games will be his last.

While the manager remains defiant the LA Galaxy forward hopes that he stays until the end of the campaign including the now almost dead rubbers against Germany and Kazakhstan.

We say almost because finishing higher up the group will get us a better seeding for the next qualification campaign.

In the aftermath of last night’s loss the 33-year-old spoke to Newstalk’s football commentator Dave McIntyre.
