Arsene Wenger bemoaned the decision to not punish Darron Gibson with a second yellow card in last night’s 0-0 draw between Everton and Arsenal.

The Arsenal manager told reporters he felt the decision to leave Gibson in the game, following a cynical body check of Theo Walcott, “was not correct”.

The draw leave Arsenal two points clear of fourth placed Chelsea and fifth placed Tottenham, but have played two and one games more than them respectively.

Wenger said that despite the draw he felt his side were still well positioned to qualify for the Champions League, and in the right frame of mind for the challenge.

“We have of course regret because I think we had the chances to win the game.

“It keeps us in a good position, a strong position.

“Even if we dropped 2 points I think the spirit and determination are there so let’s just keep that in the squad and win the next game.”
