West Ham are on the verge of re-signing Carlton Cole.

The striker was released by the club at the end of last season. But he is now undergoing a medical, with a view to returning to the Premier League side on a short-term deal.

The former Chelsea target man is a popular figure at Upton Park, having stayed with the club when they were relegated to the Championship in 2011.

However his goal record was far from inspiring. He scored just twice in 27 apperarances last season.
