Roy Keane is a small but demonic eleven-year-old in 1980s Cork. He needs to get on the starting eleven for his football club, and nothing is going to get in his way.

That's the Irish Film Board's tagline for Rockmount, a new film about Roy Keane.

We will be chatting to director Dave Tynan on Off The Ball tonight but what do we know about the project?

  • It's part of the IFB's Signatures short-film scheme which includes other titles such as The Hare and Cutting Grass.

  • The short film is written and directed by Dubliner Dave Tynan who is a graduate of the National Film School, and produced by Michael Donnelly.

  • As Tynan confirmed, the film is based around Keane's early football career at Cork club Rockmount where he first showed promise. However unlike some of his team-mates, he was not offered a trial with an English club initially until his move to Brian Clough's Nottingham Forest in 1990.
