The head of the International Wrestling Federation, Raphael Martinetti, has resigned after the sport was removed from the 2020 Olympics.

Earlier this week the International Olympic Committee dropped wrestling from the list of events guaranteed a place in future Games.

Wrestling has been part of the Olympics since ancient times and was part of the debut games of the modern Olympics in 1896.
