Irish Design Week is a national programme of events from Design & Crafts Council Ireland (DCCI), taking place across the country this week from the 13th to the 17th of November. Irish Design Week embraces the importance of design and how design infiltrates every aspect of society, culture and the economy.
DCCI Irish Design Week 2023 promises over 50 events running across Ireland. Throughout the week, the wide and diverse benefits of design in all its forms will be discussed, from product design to artistic design, and design for living to the benefits of incorporating design principles in other industries.
Irish Design Week kicked off in Cork City Hall on Monday 13th November with a panel discussion on the topic of a National Design Centre in Ireland.

The theme of this year’s DCCI Irish Design Week is, Is Folklore the Future? ‘, and while speaking on The Home Show on Newstalk, Suzy O'Keefe, Head of Digital and Communications at DCCI, says,
“We find that, increasingly, storytelling and folklore is being used as a medium for discussing design. It's a way of carrying messages and it's also a way for people to engage with us.”
The theme of ‘Is Folklore The Future’ will feature in all Irish Design Week events around the country, most of which are free.
Find an Irish Design Week event near you, by visiting DCCI Irish Design Week's website. The majority of the events are free.
There will be demonstrations in glassblowing from glassware artists who featured on the hit Netflix show ‘Blown Away,’ plus exhibitions from Cartoon Saloon, the well-known Kilkenny-based Oscar nominated Irish Animation Studio.
