The organisers of Wesley teenage disco in Dublin have said no new procedures have been put in place to detect underage drinking.
The comments come following reports that a 'drunk tank' had been set up to deal with the problem of drunk teenagers. The Sunday World reported that the the area was set up for out-of-control teens to sober up, rather than leave them wandering the streets until parents come to get them.
The disco was hosting a 'Back to School' event at the weekend.
Organisers have defended the disco and said a First Aid room has always been in operation to deal with incidences from asthma to blistered feet - as well as anyone thought to have been drinking.
Doni Bulger is event organiser for Old Wesley. He says it is unfair to say all teenagers who attend the disco see it as an opportunity to drink.
He told The Pat Kenny Show here on Newstalk that they take the issue of underage drinking very seriously.
