On Thursday, May 28 on The Pat Kenny Show, the Eason Book Club will review 'The Green Road' by Man Booker Prize novelist, Anne Enright.

The book is described as a tale of difficulty in the family setting. It is a book about the gaps in the human heart and how we strive to fill them.

The book centers around Rosaleen Madigan, a mother based in the West of Ireland who's children leave to pursue lives they couldn't have attained in their rural homestead.

As Rosaleen gradually enters old age, she decides to sell the family home, leaving the returning children with a sense of loss. They feel that their childhoods are being erased and that their personal history is being bought and sold.

The author, Anne Enright, won the Man Booker Prize in 2007 for her novel 'The Gathering'. She is known for her wit and engaging dialogue as well as nous for writing very good books.

'The Green Road' is available from Eason's now for €16.99.

Her new book was chosen by the Eason Book Club panel, which consists of Mary O'Rourke, Brian Kennedy and Rory Cowan on The Pat Kenny Show.

The other reads that Eason's are recommending for the month are 'Bitter Freedom' by Maurice Walsh, 'World Gone By' by Dennis Lehane and 'A God in Ruins' by Kate Atkinson.

'A God in Ruins' by Kate Atkinson is about life after life and the concept of infinite chances. It follows Ursula Todd who lived through the more turbulent years of the last century. Kate Atkinson's novel is available from Eason's for €17.99.

Maurice Walsh's 'Bitter Freedom' gives a new take on the Irish revolution. It goes into the details of the struggle between British forces and the newly formed IRA and tells the experiences of those both directly involved in battle and those who weren't. 'Bitter Freedom' is available from Eason's for €22.99.

Finally, Dennis Lehane's 'World Gone By' follows Joe Coughlin. An untouchable gangster who's slinks from the social elite to politicians to the police and indeed to the mob. 'World Gone By' is available now from Eason's for €18.99.
