A series of fire deficiencies have been discovered at a prestigious apartment complex in Dublin.
A routine inspection of the Longboat Quay development in the Docklands uncovered problems with the walls and an absence of smoke vents.
They were built by former developer Bernard McNamara. The evacuation of the 200 residents was considered.
The Irish Examiner reports that the two blocks of the complex have serious construction defaults in relation to fire safety, which "have rendered them effectively fire traps."
Longboat Quay is a development of two blocks of apartments, totalling 298 units - as well as some retail outlets.
They are under the management of the Dublin Docklands Development Authority (DDDA).
Michael Clifford of the Irish Examiner told the Pat Kenny Show here on Newstalk some owners have not even been told.
