Former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern says he will 'of course' attend the Dáil's banking inquiry, if he is asked to do so.
The Oireachtas Committee on Procedure and Privilege is handling the setting up of the inquiry, which is expected to open proceedings by the end of next month.
Bertie Ahern left the office of Taoiseach in May 2008, and the controversial banking guarantee was imposed in September that year.
Speaking to Newstalk's Pat Kenny show this morning, Mr Ahern reiterated he saw no warning signs as he stepped down, that a downturn was on the horizon:
