Strictly Foróige, a fundraising event named after the popular dancing programme will be held on Friday November 8th in the Red Cow Hotel in Dublin.
As the name suggests the event is being held by Irish youth organisation Foróige to raise money for both the organisation itself and Tallaght Youth Services.
Foróige works with An Garda Síochána and the HSE in Tallaght to target and engage young people in what is one of the most socio economically deprived areas of the country.
A lot of the young people engaged are either very vulnerable, at risk of committing crime or already committing crime. Foróige along with the Gardaí actively seek out the most troubled youngsters and seek to engage them.
Programmes run for the young people range from education on health & nutrition to drug & alcohol use. There are also indvidualised programmes incorporating cognitive behavioural techniques which help young people identify their harmful behaviours, understand what causes them, and change them.
