A former IRA member and garda informant has claimed everyone knows that Gerry Adams was an "extremely senior member of the IRA".
Sean O'Callaghan says the Sinn Féin President cannot admit to being a member because he would be arrested immediately.
He claims he attended IRA meetings with the Sinn Féin leader.
Sinn Féin has dismissed the claims, calling them "outlandish".
In a statement, the party says: "Sean O'Callaghan cannot be taken with any credibility. In order to stay relevant, he makes increasingly outlandish claims about his involvement with the Republican movement. An Garda Síochána have repeatedly dismissed many of his claims and described others as 'highly exaggerated'".
Sean O'Callaghan, a former member of the Provisional IRA turned garda informant, spoke to Newstalk's Pat Kenny show:
O'Callaghan says he is satisfied there is still an IRA structure in place in Belfast, and in south Armagh.
The Kerryman was sentenced to life imprisonment for his IRA activities, but was released in 1996.
He left the organisation in 1975.
He now lives in the UK, where he works as a security advisor.
O'Callaghan says he cannot live in Ireland where he is a target for dissident republican.
