Toxicology tests expected as part of Dublin teenager's post mortem

Ana Hick has been remembered this morning as 'one of life's beautiful people'.

The tribute has come from the head of the Irish Film Academy, where the Ana was a student.

Ana (18) who was from Dalkey, became ill during a night out in the city centre at the weekend and died in hospital yesterday.

She was reportedly due to celebrate her birthday tomorrow.

She passed away in the Mater Hospital yesterday evening, after collapsing on Middle Abbey Street at about 3am on Saturday morning.

Nearby nightclub 'The Twisted Pepper' last night issued a statement, offering its condolences to the teenager's family and said its co-operating with the authorities in their inquiries.

A post mortem is due to be carried out and tests will be conducted to see if illegal drugs played any role in Ana's death.

Rachel-Sarah Murphy from the Irish Film Academy told the Pat Kenny Show here on Newstalk Ana's friends have been gathering to remember her.

Dr Chris Luke is a consultant in emergency medicine at Cork University Hospital and the Mercy Hospital. He told Newstalk Breakfast earlier it can be hard to know exactly how to treat people.
