Former Fianna Fáil Minister Mary Hanafin has ruled out standing in this year's local or European elections.

It follows speculation that the ex-Dun Laoghaire TD might run in the Dublin european constituency.

However Ms. Hanafin says she is interested in standing again for the party at the next general election.

But she's told the Pat Kenny show here on Newstalk that it will be a difficult task:
