The sister of a man suffering from 'locked-in syndrome' says she was '100% shocked' to be told funding had been found to let him come home.
David Garvey suffered a brain injury 15 months ago and came to public attention through the release of a letter he wrote to the HSE, pleading to be discharged from Beaumont hospital and cared for at his home in Dundalk, Co. Louth.
The letter had taken him a week to write, because his paralysis means he can only communicate with his eyes.

A step down programme has been set out for David's care.
