Parents in Australia will lose thousands of dollars of childcare and welfare benefits if they fail to get their children vaccinated in Prime Minister Tony Aboott's new "no jab, no pay" policy which was announced yesterday.
The Prime Minister has said that there would only be a small number of religious and medical exceptions to the new rules.
It is due to come into effect in 2016.
This morning, James O'Doherty from Sky News Australia ran through the details of the policy with Pat Kenny. He stated that there hadn't been too many outbreaks of illnesses like the measles but there have been cases which have brought the issue to the fore.
