Mary Coughlan says it will take time for her son to recover from his ordeal in Magaluf.

The singer had to travel to Majorca last week to bring him home after his passport was stolen.

Holidaymakers in the area have been making headlines in recent weeks after a video surfaced, showing one young woman's sexually explicit activities in a nightclub there.

In a Facebook post, Mary said she witnessed 'drink, drugs and debauchery' like she had never seen before, during her visit.

Her son Cian had contacted her wanting to come home, five days into a group trip, and just before all his money was stolen and his passport was ripped up.

She told Newstalk's Pat Kenny show - being presented this week by Jonathan Healy - that Cian is getting over the experience, but slowly:

Stories of plentiful drugs and cheap vodka being sold by the litre for €4 marked her own visit.

The entertainer said when she got home and shared her experience on Facebook, she received a barrage of messages from others who had similar stories:

According to Mary Coughlan, 4,000 Irish teenagers were staying in the Mallorca Rocks resort area when she visited.
