The Consumer Electronics Show takes place in Las Vegas this week. Tech companies from all over the world will descend upon Sin City to show off their next wave of products.
Brands we all know and love such as Sony, Samsung and Panasonic will be there along with other manufacturers we've never heard of.
CES is an exciting event as it's where many tech announcements are made and these companies show off the technology we'll all be using in years to come - so what are the main trends in 2016?
Smart homes
Jetson fans love CES. That is a particularly nerdy sentence, but stick with me! The reason fans of the Jetsons love CES is because it's the one time of year where consumers get to see that the idea of a fully connected smart home is not all that far away.
Google and Apple have shown how connected technology makes our lives easier. Brands such a Belkin make connected light bulbs and plug sockets. CES is where the next stage of innovation is on show. Samsung and Intel are among the ones to watch in this category.
Wearables:
2015 was a big year for wearables. Apple Watch went on sale along with great offerings from the likes of Huawei and FitBit.
It's thought that wearable technology will move beyond the wrist. Apparel makers are pairing up with tech innovators to put the technology into the clothing.
An awful new phrase has already emerged this year, and you can expect to hear even more about it as the year progresses; "hearables". This is a makey-uppy word for smart headphones.
Manufacturers are starting to put sensors into headphones, giving them the power to show stats that we have come to expect from a smartwatch.
Cars:
Automaker technology will take up more than 200,000 square feet of exhibit space. We can expect to see some interesting developments from some of the big names such as BMW, Tesla and Toyota, to name a few.
It's expected that we'll see a large number of devices that will take that slightly older car you have and make it smart as well.
TVs:
No matter what part of CES you visit, you're never far away from a fancy new TV. While there will be plenty of floor space allocated to TVs, it's hard to imagine any great innovation in this area.
There will be plenty of 4K models on offer and some 8K models too. Samsung is bringing the TV back into the home and with their focus now on the smart-home, it'll be interesting to see what they have up their sleeves. LG are also ones to watch.
Weird stuff:
The weird stuff that comes out of CES is far superior to the weird stuff that comes from any other tech conference in the world - like this BB 8 toy that allows you to control the droid by moving your hand, just like a real Jedi (kind of).
