Coming up on The Picture Show, Saturday 6pm:

Richard Linklater's Boyhood is filmed across 12 years and portrays the joys and pitfalls of growing up through the eyes of a child named Mason (Ellar Coltrane). Starring Patricia Arquette and Ethan Hawke as Mason's parents, Boyhood is a chronicle of the journey from childhood to adulthood.

Ellar Coltrane, who plays the role of Mason Evans Jr. in the movie, joins us tonight to discuss how he became involved and what it was like to work on such an unusual project for most of his childhood and adolescence.

Also on tonight’s show, Tom Harper director of The Woman in Black 2: Angel of Death, talks about what makes a good ghost story and how this movie differs from its predecessor. The sequel is set during World War 2 and follows a group of evacuees sheltering at the Eel Marsh House; 40 years after Arthur Kipps (Daniel Radcliffe) investigated the first haunting.

And Irish director of Unbreakable Ross Whitaker joins us on the show to discuss a pioneering- and so far successful- way to launch independent films.

Ross’s documentary Unbreakable is the story of Mark Pollock the first blind person to race to the South Pole. The movie follows Mark as a blind athlete who, in a terrible twist of fate, breaks his back. Over four years the documentary shows how Pollock and his fiance Simone try to rebuild his health and their lives as a couple.
