Coming up on The Picture Show:
Co-founder of Element Pictures, Ed Guiney, will discuss a range of projects which he and Element Pictures are currently juggling. They include new Irish soap Red Rock, which was launched earlier this month by TV3 following the loss of Coronation Street to UTV Ireland. Red Rock, set in a Garda station in a fictional coastal town in Dublin, airs every Wednesday and Thursday night at 8.30pm.
Ed is just back from Sundance Film Festival, where leading film makers sell their wares to distributors in North America. He attended the festival with his feature film Glassland, starring Jack Reynor and Toni Collette.
Also coming up:
Big Hero 6 is the latest release from Disney animation since the colossal success of Frozen. The story is a Marvel tale adapted by Disney animators and offers a unique and complex plot- not commonly associated with animated features. Director Don Hall, whose other credits include Winnie the Pooh, The Emperors New Groove and Tarzan, joins us on the show to discuss how Big Hero 6 "keeps it's Japanese aesthetic but exists in a new fictional realm."
Don also talks about the Oscar nominated, Irish animation feature Song of the Sea and it's director Tomm Moore.
The Picture Show, tonight at 6pm, on Newstalk 106-108 FM.
