On The Picture Show this week:
Kenneth Branagh, director of Cinderella joins Philip on The Picture Show tonight to discuss how Cinderella differs from its original fairy tale adaption. “The character of Cinderella was someone I was very interested in re imagining in the 21st century.”
He also discusses his upcoming projects “I’m looking forward to future possibilities, Cinderella came out of a nice surprise and I think there will be a few nice surprises ahead.”
Cinderella is a live action feature inspired by the classic fairy tale. The movie is not a direct remake of Disney's 1950 animation but borrows many of its elements. The film stars Lily James as Ella (Cinderella) Richard Madden as Prince Charming, Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmother and Helena Bonham Carter as The fairy Godmother.
Cinderella will be released in Ireland on March 27th 2015.

The movie Barry Lyndon is based on novel The Luck of Barry Lyndon by William Makepeace Thackeray. It follows the life of Raymond Barry (Ryan O'Neal) an 18th-century Irish adventurer making his way in London society.

Pierre Morel director of The Gunman chats to Philip on the Picture show tonight about what aspects attract him to directing a movie. “If a movie has a very complex layered character piece that is what is interesting to me.”
The Gunman is based on the novel The Prone Gunman, by Jean Patrick Manchette. It stars Sean Penn, as an international operative named James Terrier who wants to quit the organization he works for so he can settle down with his long time love. However, when Terrier is targeted by some of the best hit men in the world he is forced to go on the run across Europe.
