We have not had that many submarine movies in the cinema lately but there is a new one on the way, in Scottish director Kevin MacDonald’s expertly mounted Black Sea.

The thriller, which opens here Friday week, stars Jude Law as a former submarine captain and shipyard worker who undertakes a mission to recover a fortune in Nazi gold from the bottom of the Black Sea.

Director Kevin MacDonald joined us on The Picture Show last week to tell us about the true story that inspired this original screenplay.
